Academic
Cambridge University is an educational establishment. It has the potential to play a huge role in the deveopment of the leaders of tomorrow, and in shaping student's understanding of the problems of sustainable development and climate change. It also has the opportunity to use the expertise and resources of the university to 'clean up it's own house', and set an example of sustainable management for the rest of the world.
Why participate in this project? What kinds of topics could you research?
If you are interested in doing an undergraduate or MPhil dissertation, final year project, or some holiday research, come to an introductory event:
Lecture Room 6, Department of Engineering
The Cambridge Centre for Energy Studies invites you to participate in a new research initiative into improving the sustainability of Cambridge Colleges and the University.
Members of the project will investigate ways for the university to improve its environmental impact, while using buildings as a 'living laboratory' for sustainability education, and working as part of an interdisciplinary team with students and supervisors from engineering, behavioural psychology, anthropology, geography, architecture and many more.
Participation in this project gives you the opportunity to:
- Demonstrate your ability to conduct research into sustainability that has a real impact on the way we live;
- Participate in the formative stages of a new project;
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary team and gain input from other disciplines;
- Work with a range of experts on sustainability and the built environment from Cambridge University;
- Gain new skills and support in developing research and methodology;
- Network and make new contacts with peers who have similar research interests.
Participation from every discipline is welcome – engineering, geography, psychology, economics, anthropology, architecture and moreā¦
There may also be opportunities for funded summer UROPs in this area.
