Get Involved!

We have now got a new steering group for the academic year 08/09 but we still need more support! Please come along to our next meeting on Wednesday October 29th, to be held in Trinity Hall (P Seminar Room - ask at the plodge) if you're interested, if you want to find out more and to get involved in the capacity you're able.

This campaign is "one of the most engaged and vibrant efforts in Cambridge" and has really sparked the interest of university officials and college bursars to have the widest ranging impact a campaign can have. To make it work, we need keen and committed students to lead the campaign.

We are looking for people to run things on the college side of the campaign, continuing to meet with college bursars and green officers in every college to help them meet goals, share best practice and reduce their carbon footprint and become more sustainable as part of the wider university. Have a look at the campaign pack, which contains useful information on campaigning for the Go Greener goals in your college. See also the other campaign resources.

Within faculties and departments, the Go Greener campaign has not yet had a great deal of impact, so this year we're aiming to recruit faculty 'green' reps to help set up more sustainable systems such as recycling, as well as encouraging greater discussion about sustainability, bringing it into teaching where possible. We need both reps and someone to co-ordinate them.

It is very important to increase awareness about the Go Greener campaign and what efforts and improvements are being made across the University, colleges and faculties. Therefore, we need somebody to take on the role of co-ordinating media and publicity.

For more information about joining the steering group in any of these roles, please get in touch with Emily, the CUSU Environment Officer at environment@cusu.cam.ac.uk.

We need as much help and support as we can get, in whatever capacity you are able to give.
